Owner Todd LaRosa has been collecting human skeletons and skulls, oddities, taxidermy, funeral and mortuary items for over 10 years. He’s curated part of his collection for public viewing in Mount Clemens, Michigan (about 20 miles from Detroit). They opened in October of 2019.
The front of his building is a retail business “Laid to Rest Antiques & Oddities” . You can purchase something unusual, local art and taxidermy. Enter through the hanging body bags into the museum.
Creepy music and dark lighting give it the perfect macabre ambience. The owner will give you a guided tour or you can view it at your own pace. The collection is labeled and numbered and a laminated printed guide is available.
The museum has a collection of 55 skulls, skeletons, coffins, funeral antiques- truly a Musuem of Death. Some of the oldest pieces are from the 1800s.
Admission is $10 for adults. They are open Thursday- Sunday from 10am – 6pm.
